NalandaWay's Kannama Project - Singer Shuchitra

Hi, I'm Suchitra, a singer, media personality and a girl who never got the opportunities she deserved, early in life, and so had to make her own, very late. But I would be most ungrateful if I thought I was more unfortunate than millions of bright, talented girls brimming with potential, whose dreams of a good future are squashed even as i write this. Little girls are wonderfully warm, intelligent, caring individuals who with a little encouragement and access to opportunities, will make fabulous citizens of this country. It hurts me to see them being forced to sacrifice their opportunities for their male siblings and getting their wings clipped for other baseless social and community-driven norms. I therefore lend my energy, resources and whatever little advantage my public personality gives me, towards strengthening Nalandaway's truly visionary Kannamma project. I pledge to raise Rs 1 Lakh, and hopefully more, for this initiative.NalandaWay Foundation NalandaWay works with children from challenging situations from the poorest districts in India, helping them raise their voices and issues through theatre, visual arts, music, dance, radio and films. Over 6200 disadvantaged children and young people across India are involved in our projects. Our interventions have helped them learn creativity, life skills and self-confidence to create the lives that they truly want to create.
