This was the first time this prestigious prize was awarded to a South African. He was none other than Sheikh Ahmed Deedat, reverently known and called his uncle from those who hold in high esteem and admiration. The award comes after a lifetime of struggle to spread Islam and defend Islam against the onslaught of the missionaries. He finally got the recognition by internationalMuslim community that he deserved and focused more attention of the Muslim world for the most important aspect of his work, the challenge to propagate Islam.
