Utrecht's plans to realise a new station area are necessary in order to cope with the steadily increasing number of people making use of the city centre. Fact is that Utrecht is growing, the city is thriving and the area around the Central Station must be prepared for the future. The first piles have been driven. No changes will be made to the historic city centre, and the Station Area will form a natural extension of the unique central district.
