Making Money From Blogs - Getting a Solid Foundation For Your Blog

If I was a betting man I would put money on the fact that if you are reading this article, you are looking to make money from your blog or website. There are many ways you can make money from your blogs and websites these days, however many people still fail. My general theory is we should stop asking ourselves how we can make money, the most important question is how can we get visitors to our site. This is the backbone to any business, online or offline you need people to come to your site or blog each day and if you have enough people visit you are sure to make money.

The theory behind blogging for cash is simple, produce a high amount of content that people visit, and either click on some form of PPC advertising you have, or purchase a product. I personally think that this is probably one of the easiest ways to make money, more so the PPC advertising. However I use some of these principles, for a different way of making sales.

To get started you need a "general blog" a blog name and title that has no real meaning towards a specific topic, yourname-views is usually a good one, however something that you can post a lot about anything will work just as well. Any name will work, however from a users point of view they are more likely to go to a site that is a general name rather than a topic driven name, for example, you write a post on SEO and your blog title is Football Shirts, you are most probably going to miss a fair few visitors, so use a general name to be on the safe side!

Now you have a name you need to get some content on your blog, and a decent amount. You should be looking to get 15 - 20 good quality posts on your new blog within the first week, however to get a decent amount, and also give the search engines some idea you should aim for a minimum of 2 posts per day. Keep to the following guidelines for your posts and it will help.

Post title - Relevant to content - Keyword Rich - less than 5000 competing pages on a "phrase" match.

Post Body - 200 - 300 words minimum - Highly relevant content - naturally displays your Title keywords throughout.

Tags - Only use around 3 - 4 highly relevant targeted tags (2 - 3 word phrases seem to work best)

Blog home page - if you are writing up 400 word articles then limit your amount of blogs to show on the home page to 1 or 2, if you are around the 300 word mark, then have 2 but if you are 400 + then 1 should be fine.

Images - optional really doesn't make much difference on these type of blogs, unless you need an image don't waste your time looking for one! If you do use images, name-them-correctly and make sure they are of good quality.

AdSense or other advertising - this is debatable, but I like to leave out AdSense until the blog is starting to see a turn over of traffic, putting it on before you have any real content could in very rare cases cause a red flag with Google.

With all the above in place your money making blog is generally ready to go, you should now start looking at building a back link or 2 in to your blog, to get the content indexed, (back linking and other SEO tips can be found in other articles by me and many others) you can now simply repeat the content process for your new blog, over and over again, and build a link in to each page slowly and within a month you should find that your blog is being found by numerous keywords and you start getting a decent amount of traffic.

Remember the internet is a quick changing place, and after you have your blog up and running you should continue to build up new blog posts, and new back links try to update your blog once a day and aim for 1 new back link at least per day. but not to the new page! If you are unsure on how to build a good back links see other articles on Ezine, there are loads of good quality articles on back links.
